Loop Interior Architecture Walking Tour with Pedway

Step inside for another kind of architectural walking tour.

On our signature interior architecture walking tour, you’ll step into magnificent interior spaces and the underground Pedway. We’ve planned a creative route that weaves through buildings and secret short-cuts. You’ll get a solid overview of Chicago history, and a new perspective on looking at our famous architecture – both inside and out!

Your tour guide tells stories about Chicago’s history and architecture while guests share iPads loaded with archival maps, historic photos, and documentary video clips. Highlights of this Chicago architecture walking tour include a church in a skyscraper, a contemporary development, and a historic department store with sparkling Tiffany mosaics.

This is much more than a Pedway walking tour. This creative architecture tour ventures into beautiful lobbies and corridors of both Chicago landmarks and lesser-known historic sites. To be honest, parts of the Pedway just feel like a basement. It’s not very visually enticing! A portion of this walking tour takes you into the Chicago Pedway, but you’ll get a color-printed map of the Pedway as a gift. That way you can explore the whole Pedway system yourself!

Going beyond the facades you see from the sidewalk means you can truly enter into different worlds of architectural space in downtown Chicago. Outdoor architecture tours, like boat tours, just involve looking at the outside of buildings. That can be a great first step, but you have to go inside to fully experience Chicago architecture.

90% of this walking tour takes place inside, which makes it great for any kind of weather.

And who wants to listen to a volunteer tour docent rambling a bunch of memorized dates and names? Not us! Our expert tour guides are highly trained, smart, fun and passionate about Chicago architecture and history.

In business since 2010, we are proud to be a top-rated Chicago tour company with five-stars on Yelp and TripAdvisor. Many of our Chicago architecture walking tours integrate historic bars, food, and music history. We hope you’ll join us to explore stories and places locals don’t even know, both downtown and in Chicago neighborhoods!

This Chicago architecture walking tour is also available as a private group tour for nine or more guests.
