All Ages 1893 World’s Fair Walking Tour

Discover the legacy of the 1893 World's Fair on a fun tour for groups of all ages

On the “All Ages 1893 World’s Fair Walking Tour” you’ll learn why the Chicago 1893 World’s Fair captures our imaginations nearly 130 years later. This streamlined version of our “1893 World’s Fair Walking Tour with Bars” skips the drinks and focuses on the educational games– it’s a fun learning and exploring experience for all ages.

With an expert tour guide, guests old and young will explore the secret corners of historic downtown buildings that connect today’s city to the time of the Columbian Exposition. Educational games with prizes help make the history engaging and create a memorable experience for everyone!

Along with the tour guide’s energetic commentary, guests of all ages engage with iPads that are stocked with images that bring the World’s Fair to life. Guests on this walking tour will also divide into teams and play interactive, educational games. These visual scavenger hunts and trivia competitions test your attention to details and add a competitive flair to the tour.

This educational, family-friendly walking tour visits some of the few remaining buildings from the 1890s. The fairgrounds themselves were south of downtown, where today very little remains intact from the fair. You can best see the impact of the 1893 World’s Fair right in downtown Chicago on this tour with us. You’ll even get a chance to ride in a human-operated elevator, one of the last left in the city!

We regularly offer a 2.5-hour version of this 1893 World’s Fair Tour with Bars for adults. This family-friendly version of the tour is briefer and does not go into the bars. Instead, this family-friendly tour focuses on the educational games and architectural explorations to make the history accessible and exciting for guests of all ages.

This walking tour is designed to appeal to both kids and adults. We recommend bringing kids ages 6 and up.  Tour groups are limited to 14.
